Fall Social 2019

Updates: REGISTRATION will be on the LOWER LEVEL OF THE PAVILION; an intermediate point-to-point course added (2km)

When: Sunday October 20, 2019 early afternoon.

This event is being held in conjunction with Fort Saskatchewan Nordic Ski Club’s Open House and our Kids Run Wild program.

This event is FREE, but if you think you might come, we would appreciate you filling out the RSVP on Zone4. That way we can have an idea of how many hotdogs we need and guess which course you might want to do.

Where: West River’s Edge Park, Fort Saskatchewan. Registration at the Park Pavilion, 1875 River Valley Drive (probably on the lower level). Public washrooms accessible from the outside on the upper level.
NEW MAP – this park has woods with footpaths, open areas with paved trails and even some ponds and a wetland area.

What:
– a score orienteering try-it course for the public – go to whichever controls you want, in any order.
– THREE point-to-point courses (one intermediate 2km, one technical difficulty medium length 3.6km, one technically difficult long length 6km) suitable for EOOC club members and other experienced orienteers. Waivers required for these three (this year’s grey waivers count!)
Pin-punching will be used for all courses.
Hot dogs and hot drinks to follow.

Timetable:
1:00pm – registration open for EOOC members (especially those wishing to do the point-to-point courses).
1:30pm – registration open for everyone.
3:00pm – event finishes

Location:
West River’s Edge Park is near the south end of Fort Saskatchewan. From Hwy-21, turn west onto Westpark Blvd, then follow the signs to West River’s Edge and the Boat Launch symbol. The pavilion will be on your left just before you get to the boat launch.

Don’t forget to RSVP on Zone4

This event goes RAIN or SHINE or snow (if there’s enough of the latter it will turn into a ski-orienteering event!)
