Catching Features - a realistic game for practicing orienteering skills - run in the terrain, read the map (and, of course, get lost).  Even the demo version is addictive!
Control Descriptions control description symbols from IOF as of Jan 1, 2004.  Starting on page 16 there is a chart with the map symbol, a drawing of the feature, the control description symbol and text.
