Membership and O-Pass
Information
You do not need to become a member of
Edmonton Overlanders Orienteering Club (EOOC) in order to
participate. Maps for non-members at Wednesday park events cost
(NEW PRICE 2012) $10 each; an optional additional map for a couple or
family for $5 more. Maps may be shared, but we recommend that everyone has one
to get the most fun and best experience.
We sell two kinds of memberships, both of which run from
Jan 1 to Dec 31:
full AOA membership or associate membership.
Full membership
This is membership in the Alberta Orienteering Association (AOA)
and includes membership in EOOC. This gives you club benefits (as
listed under associate memberships below), AOA
benefits and Canadian Orienteering Federation (COF) benefits.
The COF provides the club with liability insurance, develops
rules, manuals and guidelines for putting on forest
events, officials certification and coaching.
The AOA makes our forest maps, sanctions our forest events, provides
officials certification and organizes training camps. In November
the AOA puts on a retreat for its members with a range of courses and
talks of interest to its members.
Fees are $30 for the first person in the
household* and $15 for additional members, with one third discount for
full time students and those over 65. There is no charge for children 11
and under on December 31 of the membership year. There is a maximum
fee of $55 per household.
Benefits include discounts at orienteering events nation wide and
newsletters from the AOA and COF. Download the membership
application form or register
on-line. You may also purchase a full membership at any
EOOC event.
(*household = those resident at the same address)
Associate membership
This basic membership is with the club only. Benefits include
discounts at park and forest events put on by EOOC, bulletins, email
reminders/updates and discounts at our sponsors' stores.
The fee for an associate membership is $20 for an individual or $25 for a household.

Memberships may be purchased at any EOOC event.
EOOC full or associate members may, if
they wish, buy in addition to their membership, an optional
Wednesday evening season "O-Pass".
- save money,
- save stress (you don't have to search for cash each week)
- save time - O-pass holders can use an express line to collect their
maps
- make it easier for the volunteer registrars
There are 2 options:
- single O-pass per household or
- multiple O-pass per household
Single O-Pass - $35 This pass entitles the member to ONE map per
Wednesday event.
A household may buy a single O-Pass - $35; you may share the map or any
one club member in the household may use it. The pass is not
transferable outside the club members in the household, and is
non-refundable.
Multiple O-Pass - $70 This pass entitles the EOOC member
household to a map at every Wednesday event for each of the members of
the household who are EOOC members. The pass is not transferable outside
the members in the household, and is non-refundable.
When are the passes available to purchase?
Passes are available for members to purchase until Wednesday May 16,
2012.
Where can I buy one?
If you have already sent your membership renewal, you can mail a cheque*
(made out to EOOC) to the club mailbox:
EOOC
Box 69082
Edmonton T6V 1G7
or bring your money/cheque to any of the Wednesday events up to and
including May 16, 2012.
If you are renewing, a separate cheque* (made out to EOOC) for the
O-Pass would be appreciated.
You must be a member to buy an O-Pass.
You do not have to buy an O-Pass - members may buy a map (2012 price $5)
each time if
they prefer.
